JIM IS OFFICIALLY RETIRED

September 24 almost got away from me but it's not to late to wish my big brother a very Happy Birthday. I couldn't ask for a better brother and I'm so thankful that the Lord spared his life many years ago. Thanks, Jim, for being patient with this little sister. You continue to be a good example of a servant in your work there in Iowa. God bless you and trust you had a wonderful birthday. We love you!

TREE TRIMMING DAY

Today Rog decided he was going to get an overdue job done. Greg didn't get his picture taken anytime but he was here to help. We had borrowed a long handled chain saw trimmer and a long handled clipper to get the branches that needed to go. The equipment made it look pretty easy but Rog informed me that it was heavy and tiring after while. We had a lot of small dead branches up high that the squirrels were breaking off so we got rid of the rest of them so we don't have to clean them up in the yard now. We also had a lot of low hanging branches that needed to be cut and some clearing needed to be made for the basketball goal. It was a nice day to do the work.

Meryn helped us pick up the branches and load them onto the trailer.

Below is the sidewalk supervisor - he remembers using this quite some time ago. Dad & Mom enjoyed watching.

It was a big load of branches and below you can see the change.

WIGGLE CARS

Hey grandkids, gramma just added a couple more riding toys to her "stuff". These are called wiggle cars and move ahead by turning the steering wheel back and forth. Rog & I went to the fair today and I had seen these one other time so I decided to get a couple for the grandkids when they come to visit. We all tried them but they definitely move a little faster for the younger ones. Brendon, Caleb, Trevin, and Meryn all had fun trying them out.

FAMILY VISITORS

John & Sue Tucker(John is the youngest of my cousins) stopped by to visit the folks after spending the day at the fair. We had a good visit and it's always good to have the cousins and their families stop by anytime.

FUN WEEKEND

We were happy to have John & Melanie and Ella(2) visiting for the long weekend. It's always fun to have our kids and grandkids come and spend time with us.

Below is Great Grandpa Tucker singing Happy Birthday to Meryn.

We celebrated Meryn's birthday this weekend so took the opportunity to get a four generation picture.

A VISIT TO THE KANSAS STATE FAIR

Today we decided to take Mom & Dad to the fair. The weather was wonderful but almost a little chilly. It was dollar day or you could get in free with a Dillons card and the rides were only a dollar today. Well Mom and Dad did well because they didn't have to pay for their rides:) We went through several of the buildings, Mom checked out the quilts, and then we went to find something to eat. By this time it was raining so everyone was trying to get inside. The food court was packed but we managed to get some chicken & noodles and a few new year's cookies.
By the time we were done eating, Mom had walked as far as she cared to so a couple of highway patrol guys asked us if we needed a ride and we said yes. It was a long ways from the entrance so we were grateful for their help. It was fun for us to be able to take them with us.

PICNIC AT KAREN'S HOME (LAST FRIDAY)

A week ago we had a church picnic at Karen's home in appreciation for the help that the church family gave to Karen several weeks earlier. We had a great time - plenty of food and fellowship. Karen had balloons filled with water and was ready for a water balloon volleyball game. The adults played first and then the younger ones played a game. We really had a great time and appreciated Karen inviting us. Thanks Karen!

I told you I had some pictures to share later so here they are.

Jack, Dennis, Greg(with the shades), and Joel getting ready to send a balloon over the net

Rog was the hat rack for Jack's hat

Rog, Anthony, and Matthew playing water balloon volleyball

Everyone enjoying the picnic

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROGER - OUR FIRST BORN

Roger is 39 today and we cannot believe where those years have gone. We hope you have a really good birthday Roger and thank the Lord for giving us such a wonderful son. It has been fun to watch our children grow up and become men and women that love the Lord and we are also thankful for the good health and families that the Lord has given each of them.

We love you Roger and wish you a
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

NEW ROOF ON OUR CHURCH

Monday was a holiday for some but not for the roofers that are working on the roof of our church. They had lots of shingles to take off(including wood shingles) and when we saw them working on Tuesday, we found out that on Monday they had already finished the east side of the roof on Monday. Our roof is very steep so I don't envy them at all.

They had to put plywood sheeting on the roof - you can see one of them pulling the plywood onto the roof

Below is the mess of old shingles that were being taken off the roof. The guy in the picture was picking all of that up and putting them into a trailer
.

Below a close-up view of the new shingles - Looks really good!

The east side of the church all finished

MORNING FOG

Just before the gang came this past weekend, Rog and I finally painted our playhouse and new storage shed. The color is morning fog(a shade of gray) with white trim. The playhouse was well overdue since we have had it for several years already and just couldn't slow down long enough to get the painting job done. The playhouse will have white shutters by the windows but we didn't get that done yet.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

We started off the weekend with a picnic at Karen's home for our church family. We had a great time and a good turnout. They played water balloon volleyball and then there was some singing and a devotional. It was a beautiful evening and I had hoped to have some pictures but I had forgotten my camera and tried borrowing some pictures but I was not able to use them with my program. Maybe I can add some later.

When we arrived home from the picnic, we were greeted by John & Elisa and their 4 children. Susan came back with them after helping Elisa this past week in KC. Later in the evening Phil & Julie and their 4 children arrived. Yes, we had a full house but it was a fun weekend. Today about mid-afternoon they all left so it is quiet here now.

Owen & Trey had been waiting to sell watermelons and lemonade so we had to set up another stand. I think they pictured that people would be lining up but after a few hours of selling very few watermelons and 3 lemonades to 3 firemen that stopped by, they were ready to close shop.

Brendon & Caleb & Trevin had their motorized scooters with them so Ethan wanted to ride with them. He is willing to try anything - doesn't have much fear.

Avery, Malia, and Meryn spent a lot of time playing together and we didn't see them for hours.
