WE ARE HOME!

We arrived here in Hutchinson about 1:30 p.m. on Monday. We took our truck to Salina to bring the couch and lift chair that we had left on Friday. It has been great to have Mom and Dad here with us and they are settled in but still have some things to organize. Dad is doing great and is so happy to be with Mom again.

This is our family wall - we have the picture of our family a few years ago at Hesston and a picture of Rog's parents and my parents. We enjoy
having family around.

It is snowing again today and it is beautiful. Greg is helping Rog get some wood inside because it looks like we are in for quite a cold spell.

MOVING THEIR THINGS

We rented a U-Haul truck to make the move as easy as possible. They only had a 26 foot truck available so we took it but figured we would have much more room than necessary. We were wrong - it wasn't stacked to the ceiling but it was pretty full. Mom & Dad are known for filling every crook and cranny of their homes and their apartment at the manor was no different.

I wouldn't be surprised if you would find Phil in the kitchen helping his wife once in a while but I want you to know he did a superb job of packing up the kitchen things for Grandma Tucker.

All the guys(John, Greg, Phil, and Rog) had their turn loading things into the truck but here you see our son-in-law, Greg, getting some things situated.

This is the moving crew that I mentioned above. They worked hard most of the day and we appreciate all they did.

This is all that was left for Mom to live with besides some food in the refrigerator from Friday evening until we pick them up on Monday to bring them to Hutchinson.

And here we are in Hutchinson late Friday afternoon unloading the truck that we just finished loading a couple of hours ago.

About 25 years ago we moved to the house where we now live to help take care of Rog's parents. At that time his parents had built on an addition to the back of their house for them to live in and we were moving into the front part their home. Now it is my parents that we want to help and encourage so it is so nice that we already have the place for them. We have moved their things in and it is a warm cozy new home for them. We look forward to having them with us soon.

DISCUSSING THE MOVE

I have my own little therapist that helps get rid of my headaches. Couldn't find a cuter one.
(Meryn Lanker - 3 yrs)

We had lunch today at the apartment with Mom and Dad and discussed the plan to move. We plan to move them to our home next Monday so we can be one happy family. We are excited about helping them and look forward to lots of good times together.

MY NEW JOB

For years I have wished I could find a place that would allow me to do some kind of job at home to earn a little money and finally I found it. I am addressing and stuffing envelopes for a business and having fun doing it. I will not get rich but it is exactly what I have wished for for a long time. I picked up 2 bundles(a bundle consists of 50 envelopes and letters) to do last Thursday and have already finished them. On Tuesday I will get to return the 2 bundles and pick up 5 more bundles. After this next time, I can pick up as many bundles as I like. I'm enjoying it!

SNOWED IN - WHAT BEAUTY!!

Our grandsons(Caleb, Trevin, & Brendon pictured) are enjoying the large amount of snow in our back yard. They did a good job of making an igloo yesterday and made it bigger and better today.

Rog finally got to use the snow blower that he had gotten ready several weeks ago when the snow did not come as they had forcasted. One problem though, the belt broke on his first 5 minutes so he thought he was going to have to shovel it off but a neighbor was so kind to let him borrow his snow blower.

Our grandsons, Brendon, Caleb, Trevin, had a great time building an igloo and they started it yesterday and finished it today. They could crawl through it and I think it was about 6 foot long.

The snowplow was coming down our street but he did not clear our street. He was just getting rid of the pile from closer to Plum St. so was adding a little to our street.

This was the neighbor's snowplow that we were borrowing.

Looking out from our garage across the street.

Like our bird bath?

The trees were simply gorgeous this morning.

LET IT SNOW AND SNOW AND SNOW

It started snowing this morning early and has snowed all day. This picture is already more than we usually get so the pictures get better.

It is accumulating fast and here we already have 4 inches of that pretty white stuff.

You can see our patio is getting deep. Of course there are a few piles of ice underneath all that snow.

OUR TIME IN KC

We were in KC to take care of Roger & DeeDee's children for a few days. We had a fun time and enjoyed the snow while we were there. We were able to spend some time with John & Melanie & Ella and Phil & Julie & their children as well.

This was the snow and ice in KC and it was mostly ice. Beautiful to look at but not so nice to be out there.

ENJOYING GRANDKIDS AND SNOW

We traveled to KC on Saturday and it was kind of tense with the snow covered highways. We are babysitting for Roger & DeeDee while they are on a trip to Orlano, FL. We made it without mishap but were glad to relax when we got here.

Roger & DeeDee's flight to Florida was canceled so they had to go to the airport and find another flight. They ended up going to Denver about 11 this morning and left Denver in the middle of the afternoon and arrived in Florida this evening. The airline that they were originally booked with would not have been able to fly them before Monday so they were happy to find another flight.

It is very icy here - in fact, Rog & John have had to pull a car off our street here that simply could not get their cars to go anywhere. John has 4-wheel drive so they used a rope and pulled one clear up to the corner. The kids enjoy sliding around outside but I have stayed inside all day. I figure I might fall rather than slide:) John & Melanie & Ella were here with us most of the day as well as Roger & DeeDee's kids.

We are having a great time with our grandkids and watching the winter wonder land. I'll post some pictures and update when I return home and have my own computer.
